Ausangate

Ausangate is a mountain in Peru’s Andes that is part of the Vilcanota mountain range. According to local legends, the energy that gives life to earth begins in this mountain. Ausangate Mountain also plays an important role in the local religious ceremonies. Every year hundreds of pilgrims visit Ausangate Mountain on their way to the snowcapped mountain of Qoyllur Ritty before the celebration of the Corpus Christi, a catholic religious ceremony.

Ausangate Mountain has an altitude of 6384 meters above sea level. It’s located in the Vilcanota mountain range, which is part of the Peruvian Andes. This mountain is situated around 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Cusco.
