Tour Information
What you will see in our 2 Day Trail Tour to Machu Picchu

Most Machu Picchu 2 Day Tours from Cusco involve a short trek to Machu Picchu followed by a tour of the Inca citadel. However, our 2 day Train Tour to Machu Picchu gives you the chance to explore the most renowned Inca sites of Cusco during the span of 2 days. This tour is perfect for those visitors who don’t have much time, but want to enjoy the wonders Cusco has to offer.

The region of Cusco has many tourist attractions. Visitors who enjoy long walks usually go to the Rainbow Mountain of Vinicunca, or participate in the Salkantay Trek. However, Cusco has a great variety of archaeological sites distributed around the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Our 2 Day Trail Tour to Machu Picchu combines the classic route to Machu Picchu with guided tours to the most known sites of the Sacred Valley, such as Ollantaytambo and Moray. The first day is entirely dedicated to enjoying the amazing views the Sacred Valley offers. On the second day, you will have the opportunity to visit Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas, after arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes by train.

Despite the fact that this travel package does not include a trek to the Inca Trail, it does offer a unique opportunity to visit many Inca sites in a relatively short period of time. In addition, we guide small groups of people, ensuring a personalized experience.

Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas and arrive at the citadel of Machu Picchu by train. Be part of our 2-day tour to Machu Picchu!

Packages Details

Day 1Cusco – Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes

Our day trip starts when we pick you up from your Cusco hotel at 7:00 a.m. Then we’ll begin our exploration of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be in the small town of Chinchero, where you will see a colonial-era church. This structure is notable for its intricate mural paintings and the Inca structures that surround it.

Then we’ll go to Moray, a peculiar Inca site. At first glance, Moray looks like a stadium, but appearances can be deceiving. The Incas actually used Moray as a series of circular agricultural terraces. Afterwards, we’ll visit the Salt Mines (Salineras) of Maras, which have around 4000 natural salt mines.

We’ll arrive in Urubamba around midday and have lunch there. Then we’ll visit the Inca site of Ollantaytambo, which is known for its imposing walls and numerous stone steps. We’ll explore Ollantaytambo until 3:00 p.m., when we’ll head to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. There is a luxury option to reach Machu Picchu by buying a ticket on the Hiram Bingham train, or the Vistadome Train. However, these options are quite expensive.

Aguas Calientes is a small town near Machu Picchu’s citadel. This town is named after the hot springs that it is famous for. When you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you will be greeted by our staff. They will transport you to your hotel in Aguas Calientes, where you will have dinner and rest for the following day.

Day 2Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

The following day, we will visit Machu Picchu’s citadel. We’ll arrive there after taking a bus ride for about 25 minutes. When you arrive there, our professional tour guides will take you to the citadel’s most important sites. There you’ll have plenty of time to explore the famous Inca city of Machu Picchu. You’ll visit the Temple of the Condor, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the enigmatic Main Temple, among other Inca sites.

It is possible to take a short trek to the Huayna Picchu Mountain. However, because the daily number of visitors is limited, entrance tickets must be purchased in advance. A short trek to the Machu Picchu Mountain is also available.

The guided tour ends here. Nonetheless you will be free to explore the citadel and the town of Aguas Calientes on your own. Be aware that the train to Ollantaytambo leaves at 7:00 pm.

Our staff will receive you at Ollantaytambo to take you back to Cusco. We’ll arrive at Cusco at about 10:30 pm. Our Machu Picchu tour ends here.
